Inflation rate drops to 21.2% in April 2025

The Government statistician, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu, has announced that inflation for the month of April 2025 was 21.2 per cent, down from the 22.4 per cent in March.

At a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, May 7, Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu stated that the drop was influenced by the decline in food and non-food inflation compared to the same period last year.

He announced that inflation for locally produced items dropped from 24 per cent in March to 22.7 per cent in April 2025.

Mr. Iddrisu urged the government to sustain initiatives such as the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP), Capitation Grant, and School  Feeding programme.

“Government must also work hard to sustain social intervention programmes such as the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP), Capitation Grant, School  Feeding and other programmes that can protect the real income of the poor”, he said

He added that the government must fast-track the implementation of the Agriculture for Transformation programme to reduce food inflation.
